Mazie turned two (months) this week! We had an appointment with the pediatrician on Friday and she's up to 12 lbs., 2 oz., and 23 inches long. She's getting nice and chubby, too-- perfect little fat thighs and cheeks.
She continues to be an incredibly sweet, good-natured baby, making life as new parents surprisingly (and abnormally, from everything we've heard) easy. She sleeps very well at night, generally getting up only once or twice and sleeping up to 7 hours at a stretch. She's also getting to be more fun and interactive during the day, paying more attention to the world around her. Her mobile is a new favorite -- we lay her down in her crib and she'll give her funny little butterfly friends a nice big smile. Sometime she'll talk to them a little, too, with her sweet little coos and sighs. She holds her head up a lot, and can even "stand" (with lots of support and spotting) on her strong little legs. We've taken her swimming a couple more times and she continues to enjoy the water, getting more enthusiastic with her little frog kicks and flailing arms as we support her on her back. All in all, she's a total joy, and Caleb and I feel very lucky to have all of this time with her work-free.
Next up is a trip to California next weekend for the wedding of our friends Dan and Meg in Berkeley, and then we'll be back in Durham for about 10 days before we make the big trek up to Madison! I'm definitely getting excited about the move-- looking forward to settling in to our new home and getting to know the area (we've heard great things...), but also sad to leave this place. We are really going to miss our home here, and, most of all, all of the wonderful friends and neighbors who have been our family over the past 5 years.
